"I have a very good friend, an Air Force Veteran, who owns a Korean War vintage L-17 Navion. He had the plane painted early this last spring in Air Force colors and, in honor of the 92nd, he had our Battalion Crest painted on the tail section. Although we never had an L-17 in our Battalion, they were commonly used in Korea for liaison purposes. In fact, one was destroyed by an errant P-51 along with our L-5 and another L-5 at the Suwon airstrip in late September 1950. I thought that you might be interested in adding it to our website. The owner's name is Owen Stiegelmeier and the plane is presently hangared at the Lorain County Regional Airport, Elyria, Ohio. It will be moved to Florida later this fall."
